A Summer Interns Point of View

A Summer Interns Point of View

College students assume that they know everything, and I do not fall far from the stereotype. At the start of my internship, I thought I knew the ins and outs of marketing.  As the summer comes to close, I am leaving with confidence and comfort in the fact that there is always more to learn.

The focus of my internship was on video-hosting platforms. My counterpart Andy and I spent countless hours researching best practices for YouTube, Vimeo and Wistia. Video is essential in a company’s marketing strategy across all industries. Most businesses aren’t aware that these platforms have analytic capabilities built-in to measure and track your video’s success.

Video and social media platforms go hand-in-hand to achieve your content marketing goals.  Once you publish a video on a video-hosting platform, it is simple to share your content across social media websites like Facebook and LinkedIn to reach your desired audience.

When thinking about communications holistically, it can be easy to overlook the importance of B2B marketing. A . Think of it this way, everyone drinks Coke products but not everyone requires an Estate Planning Lawyer. For this reason, B2B video can be tailored specifically to your company’s target market, ensuring a greater return.

My analysis conducted on video this summer provided me with beneficial information to apply to my future marketing endeavors. The welcoming team at Michael Mackenzie Communications supplied me with newfound knowledge, skills and most importantly the desire to keep learning.
