PR Efforts Driving Interest in Massage for the Cure

This year Massage Envy, the nation’s largest employer of massage therapists, will donate more than $250,00 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation through their annual Massage for the Cure program. Massage for the Cure will be coming to Atlanta for the first time on July 28.

On that day, appointments will be available at all 18 Atlanta area clinics for free massages. Any donations made for those massages will go to the local Komen Greater Atlanta Chapter. Reservations will be accepted beginning July 21 by calling any area clinic or 866-917-3689.

Since early April, we have been working on generating awareness and publicity for the Atlanta campaign. As we’re getting close to the wire, things are really heating up. You may be reading about Massage for the Cure in such magazines as Up in Cumming or North Fulton Living or find listings for our event on any number of event calendars published in print or on the web. Just this week our client and the local Komen spokesperson have begun recording public affairs interviews for local radio stations including B98.5 and 95.5 the Beat and we’re looking forward to hearing our PSA running next week on other local stations.

What really seems to be working well is the grass roots efforts we have made to get the word out about our event. It will be July 28 before we know the results but already interest level is high. Because appointments will not be accepted until July 21, we’ve setup a web page at www.massage4thecure.com with a “reminder” registration that permits interested parties to give us their email address and clinic preference now and we’ll email them a reminder to call when the registration phone lines open. I’m tickled by the volume of requests we’re getting for reminders and thrilled to know that so many people want to support this important cause.
